Abu Dhabi Beach Opening: An event off record dimensions

Gi’s commitment to Abu Dhabi and the environment at large was highlighted on the evening of Wednesday 2nd July, 2008 when the new Abu Dhabi Beach was declared open. The event was held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and in presence of HH Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Presidential Affairs.
The event was unprecedented in its magnitude and magnificence and of a kind the city had never witnessed before. The inaugural ceremony also became a world event as it witnessed the world’s longest inaugural ribbon being cut. Hundreds of volunteers held the ribbon across a distance of 5, 555 metres along the Abu Dhabi Corniche creating a new world record. It was an opening event befitting a project of 105-million dirham magnitude. The colorful and unique inaugural event was conceived and organized by Grafik International, supported by volunteers from Takatuf.
The claim for ‘the world’s longest inaugural ribbon’ , verified by Bureau Veritas, is pending with Guinness Book of Records for approval.
