| Emdad
receives ADCO Contract.
Tespec L.L.C. is a United Arab Emirates company
based in Abu Dhabi, with shareholders being Transfield
Services (International) Pty. Limited and Emdad L.L.C..
Emdad has won a contract with Abu Dhabi Company for
Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) for five years to provide
an Oil Based Mud (OBM) recovery processing plant. The
OBM plant processes the waste mud produced from oil
and gas well drilling operations and treats the “cuttings”
as they are known to remove the diesel and waste using
a heat and centrifuge process.
Tespec has been awarded the contract with Emdad to
operate and maintain the OBM treatment plant in Abu
Dhabi for five years from Jan 2007 To Jan 2012, including
a 6 month transition period. During this transition
the new Brandt-Varco plant will be installed on the
site. Below is a photo of the same plant operating in
Bolivia. The client; Abu Dhabi On Shore Oil Company
(ADCO) have very stringent HSE requirements to ensure
that the plant operates to a very high standard. The
plant produces waste oil which can be sold for use in
heating plants and of course treated sand which is highly
compactable and used as a base for new roads and under
building foundations. Who said you could not sell sand
in the desert?
This new contract allows Tespec to establish a more
prominent presence right in the oilfields and facilitate
leverage for other works in the area using the OBM facilities
and staff accommodation. The size of the OBM facility
also allows for expansion of workshops and yards to
accommodate other major projects such as shutdowns for
Tespec and Intergulf. The 30 plus staff that Tespec
intend to take over from the outgoing contractor are
all experienced in the operation of the facility. We
will be conducting intensive training in the transition
period to establish our own high HSE standards and comply
with the ADCO stringent requirements for the overall
operations.
The accommodation area of the plant is unusual in that
it has a significant green area which will be watered
from the waste water we produce. This gives the site
a green look in the middle of a barren landscape making
life a little better for those who have to endure the
50 degree Celsius days and the ever present sand for
months on end. Even the main roads have fences to keep
the wild camels from causing accidents on the high speed
roads that crisscross the area. At night the oilfields
have a garish look lit by the flares from the pressure
release equipment required for the safe operation of
the oil and gas fields.
