SEHA opts for ITQAN to implement major mobile computing project

Abu Dhabi, 15 July 2008: ITQAN, the leading system integrator in the region has yet another feather in its cap with Abu Dhabi Company for Health Services (SEHA) awarding it the project for implementation of mobile computing (PC on Wheels) in its hospitals. This first-of-its-kind project in the Arab region envisages to install 656 mobile units equipped with the latest computers across the emirate for providing secured high tech solutions to the health sector.

“The project aims to facilitate communication across all levels in the healthcare sector, enabling multidirectional information dissemination”, says John R. Hawkins, Information & Technology Director, SEHA. “It will ensure an accurate and easily accessible health information system to enable physicians and para-medical personnel with real time data about the patients through a network of computers with wireless connectivity and this can be continuously updated as the procedures progress.

To the common man it will mean saving of valuable time with data retrieval, in addition to the accuracy of the data which would be vital, while for the medical professional it stands for prompt decision-taking that could be life saving. The significance of the project in healthcare and the extent of application called for a reliable partner for its implementation and ITQAN’s long years of experience stood it in good stead.

“SEHA’s mission is to provide world-class healthcare to the residents of Abu Dhabi. We greatly appreciate SEHA’s commitment to providing the best technical solutions to support healthcare services in the Emirate and its pioneering efforts in implementation of such an infrastructure across hospitals and healthcare institutions across the region”, observes Feral Al Jabi, General Manager ITQAN. “SEHA’s choice of ITQAN as the partner in this project reflects our long-standing relationship that dates back to 2001.”

ITQAN and its partner InfoLogix, a leading American company in mobile intelligence solutions, have been contracted by SEHA to implement projects for its hospitals: Tawam Hospital in Affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine, Al Corniche, Mafraq managed by Bumrungrad International, Al Rahba, managed by Johns Hopkins as well as Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, managed by Cleveland Clinic.
