Intergulf rewarded Adgas contract.
INTERGULF has been re-awarded a three year contract commencing on October 1, 2006 (with optional extensions of 1 year + 1 year) with Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (ADGAS) on Das Island for the maintenance of the following in the LNG Plant:
* Fire and Gas Detection systems
* Heating, Ventilating and Air-conditioning systems, and
* Plant Lighting and Small Power systems.
INTERGULF has maintained this contract since 2003 and this award confirms the ability of INTERGULF to provide multifarious technical maintenance services to the oil and gas industry. A multinational team of 72 comprising Supervisors, Foremen and Technicians provides this service. Das Island is the centre of the UAE’s offshore oil industry, lying in the centre of the Arabian Gulf, around 140 km north-west of Abu Dhabi. It is the export terminal of oil from the offshore fields of the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company, ADMA-OPCO, and for liquefied natural gas produced by the Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company, ADGAS, both part of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC Group. The first oil discovery in Abu Dhabi was made in 1958 in Umm Shaif off Das Island and the first oil
shipment exported to the world market from the UAE came out on July 4th, 1962 from the same field.
ADGAS was established in 1973 to turn gas, extracted from Abu Dhabi’s offshore field crude oil, into a new source of marketable energy. Immediately after the establishment of the company, a plant, the first of its kind in the Middle East, was built with an annual designed capacity of 2.5 million tons to produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), in addition to 800,000 tons per year of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The construction of the third production LNG Train in 1994 made this plant the largest of its kind in the world. As a result of this, production doubled to 5 million tons P.A. INTERGULF has continuously maintained a presence on Das Island since 1976 performing civil, electrical, HVAC, Instrumentation and Fire & Gas construction and maintenance services. At present INTERGULF maintains a workforce of about 200 personnel on Das Island carrying out various contracts for ADGAS and ADMA-OPCO.
